Tapun Gao passes away
PASIGHAT, Jul 3: 58 years old Tapun Gao Political Assistant and renowned Priest died on 2nd July in his residence at Mirbuk, Pasighat. He is survived by wife, four sons and three daughters.
In a message, the Education Minister Bosiram Siram stationed at Pasighat said Lt. Gao would be remembered for ever for his dedicated services.

ITANAGAR, Jul 3: Members of Bishnupriya Manipuri Welfare Society, Capital Complex deeply mourned the death of Mridangacharya Nilmadhab Mukherjee, who died at his Guwahati residence in the last quarter of May this year.
Late Mukherjee was appointed as the founder artiste in the State Publicity and Cultural Department of Assam in 1962. He established the Purbanchal Kalaparishad in 1975. A participant in the International World Music Conference at Paris, late Mukherjee had travelled to earstwhile Soviet Union and London in order to promote Manipuri dance. Social activists and members of the the Society including Haridas Sinha, Brajagopal Sinha and Ranjit Sinha while reacalling the contributions of Nilmadhab Mukherjee said the vaccum created with the death of Mukherjee will be difficult to fulfil.

4 NSCN (IM) cadre surrenders with arms

LEKHAPANI, Jul 3: Looking for a better life and peace, four hardcore NSCN (IM) militants – Panngan Kamhoa, Hokam Hokip, Raja Basumatari and Bipul Basumatari laid their arms, at the 25 Sector Assam Rifles HQ of the Dah Division, today.
They surrendered with two 7.62 Self Loading Rifle (SLR), one pt 303 Bolt Action Rifle
and large quantity of ammunitions and a radio set. All the surrendered cadres are

The surrender is considered as a huge success because for the first time, in recent past, it led to the recovery of two 7.62 SLR looted by the militants from the security forces.
The surrender ceremony was presided over by 25 Sector Commander P Pant, 18 Assam Rifles Col Sandeep Choudhory and Changlang SP Tumme Amo.
Applauding the decision of the youths to leave the gun culture to join the mainstream, 25 Sector Assam Rifles Commander also praised the changing mindset of the youths to embrace peace.
He also informed that the 18 Assam Rifles is doing everything possible to ensure peace and normalcy in the precinct.
The efforts of the battalion in motivating the youth to join national mainstream is praiseworthy, he said adding that the surrender has been possible due to the relentless efforts of 18 AR and the military intelligence agencies in the area.
It’s a sad reality that the youths who should be holding pen and pencil are holding rifles, said 18 AR Commandant Col Sandeep Choudhory.
Education and employment will definitely avert the youths taking the erroneous path, he opined. It is to be mentioned that in last one year alone, some 50 hardcore cadres belonging to various insurgent groups has laid down their arms and more want follow but due to lack of surrender policy in the state of Aruanchal Pradesh they are hesitant to come forward, which indeed is grim drawback of the state government.
With two of it districts – Tirap and Changlang, being categorized as disturbed area since last 20 years, it’s very shocking that the state government has not considered the need of surrender policy to reform the militants who are willing to laid down their arms and join the mainstream.
Anshu’s date with Prime Minister Singh
New Delhi, Jul 3: Everester Anshu Jamsenpa of Arunachal Pradesh who recently created a world record in mountaineering will meet the Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh at 7 Race Course Road New Delhi tomorrow. She will be accompanied by Tsering Wange, President of Arunachal Mountaineering & Adventure Sports Association.
Anshu will impress upon the Prime Minister to open up the 1000 km of virgin and unexplored Arunachal Himalayas for mountain climbing and expeditions to civilians and foreigners alike. She will also request the Prime Minister to visit Dirang in West Kameng District, Arunachal Pradesh where the prestigious National Institute of Mountaineering & Allied Sports Institute (NIMAS) is coming up.
NIMAS is being set up jointly by the State Government and the Ministry of Defence Govt of India.

Meanwhile, venting its anger, the residents demanded the Urban Development department to restore the roads in capital complex immediately. Aghast at the UD department’s failure, it questioned whether the department has enough funds for maintenance. Demanding the government to hand over the task to Public Works department, a volunteer said, ‘ PWD labours at least cleared the choked drains but since UD took over the condition of the roads and drains have deteriorated.”

Meanwhile, the union alleged that the department of land management had not been functioning properly since many years incurring heavy revenue loss as well as depriving public of their legitimate claim for land possession rights.
Dustbins installed at Tawang township
ITANAGAR, Jul 3: Environment Protection Society today installed dustbins at Urgyelling monastery, the birth place of HH the 6th Dalai Lama and the Tawang Market Area in order to maintain the cleanliness.
The installation of Dustbins had become a real necessity as the number of the shops and the population of the district seems to be increasing day by day, it said in a release while adding that this initiative will be of a great help in coping up with the solid waste management around the market area and the major monasteries, which are also some of the major tourist spots of the district.
The full expenses of the instillation of the Dustbins was completely borne by the society itself. The Society thanked Tawang MLA Tsewang Dhondup for supporting the cause.

AKKDPWC lodges complaint of misappropriation of TFC grant
ITANAGAR, Jul 3: The All Kurung Kumey District Panchayat Welfare Committee (AKKDPWC) has lodged a complaint with Chief Minister, alleging that Zilla Parishad Chairperson cum Member Secretary of Kurung Kumey and the Executive Engineer, PHE, Sangram division have misused the 3rd and 4th installments of TFC grants worth Rs.1,03,57,500. They claimed that the grant allotted to ASM @ 30% and GPM @ 50 % as per guidelines of the Panchayati Raj Institution has been totally misused and not a single penny was given to the ASMs and GPMs for extending developmental activity in their respective areas.
AKKDPWC demanded the chief minister to initiate appropriate action against the erring ZPM chairperson, the EE, Sangram PHE division and other officials involved in the alleged misappropriation of Panchayat fund. It also urged the CM to give necessary direction to the authorities concerned to release the due TFC (of 3rd and 4th installment) share to the ASMs and GPMs at the earliest and also to make public the outcome of the representation submitted to all the concern authorities by Palin, Chambang, Gangte, Yangte and Tarak Lengdi Panchayat Welfare Committee in September, 2010 expressing displeasure over the illegal method being adopted by the ZPM chairperson and other officials for immediate rectification of the same.

There is no magic wand which would lead to an instant solution to ills like corruption and black money. This was the disclosure of Prime Minister during his interaction session with senior editors of the country recently. As a head of the democratic set up, PM advocated for enforcement of more laws to tackle corruption.
Obviously, fingers are raised against Congress being the party in power for many decades on corruption issue.
BJP declared the 2010 as year of the scams with its slogan ‘Congress ka haath, gotala ka saath’. The scam list include 2G Spectrum, Commonwealth Games, Adarsh Society, rotten food grains, inflation of food prices, rice export, PDS, CVC appointment, LIC housing and Satyam Scams. The party’s fact finding committee also prepared a report on scams in North East separately.
However, it does not mean that political parties other than Congress have developed its immune system against corruption.

ITANAGAR, Jul 3: The Paktu Ao Youth Association (PAYWA) has rubbished the clarification given by West Siang District Mission RMSA in the edition of July 2 of this daily regarding civil works at Government Higher Secondary School, Aalo and Nehru Memorial Higher Secondary School, Puakgumin, Aalo under Rastriya Madhyamik Shiksha Abhiyan (RMSA).
While question the clarification, Association stated that the democratic agitations launched after the Deputy Commissioner Amjad Tak who is the Chairman of District Mission RMSA failed to response to the ultimatum given by the PAYWA.
The Association said that RMSA project has been implemented in total and complete violation of the guidelines. As per guidelines the Deputy Commissioner has no power to issue the work order as per his wish under political compulsion.
The PAYWA also questioned how the project can be executed in absence of Joint accounts of concern schools, while adding that the administrative approval has been given by Chairman himself which is totally against the guidelines of RMSA.
The Association which has called a bandh on July 1 further said that it is committed to continue the democratic agitations unless these concerns are addressed.

Dear Editor,
After the 36 hour bandh call given by ANSU, many letters have been written in response. Most of them are against the bandh stating it as an act of self pride and cheap matter.
The issue is a community issue and ANSU has the every right to see justice. They must know that our leaders and govt are deaf. With peace rally and policy of Anna's our leader will just watch the drama and laugh. When they are unable to understand the sentiment of whole community, we know how they will react to the peace procedure. Ultimately, this bandh culture can make the deaf and dump leaders listen.
On the other hand it is surprising that ANYA is taking the name of the community, yet they are not with ANSU.
This time it should not be forgive and forget. No matter what extend of penalty the accuse gets we need to know the person responsible for the whole episode.

We are innocent
Dear Editor,
This is apropos the news item published in your esteemed daily on July 3 under the caption `Police register case'.
We are quite astonished and shocked to see the unfounded and baseless allegation
published in your esteemed daily where in it was alleged that we molested and beaten
up Tami Yagam and Tami Yaro thereby causing them serious injuries while attending
a civil case of land dispute at ADM-
We are quite shocked to see that on the basis of fabricated stories of Tadar Yagam whose name has been reflected in media as Tami Yagam, the Naharlagun Police has registered the case without appreciating the real facts. In this regard it is pertinent to clarify that the undersigned have never involved in the said incident reported to have been occurred in the office premises of ADM cum Estate Officer Capital Complex Naharlagun on July 1.
However, from some reliable sources, we came to know that on 1st July after attending
the land dispute case in the Court of ADM, Tadar Yagam (Tami Yagam) was involved
in serious altercation with some other ladies. In the meantime, other women who were
witnessing the said incident had intervened and attempted normalize the situation.
But in such situation, Yagam has stripped off her cloths by herself. None of any
male members were involved in the incident as it was an altercation between the women
and as such question of manhandling and beating-
Even if it is presumed for the time being that they have been molested and beaten-
Therefore, we vehemently deny each and every unfounded and baseless allegation brought against us by Tadar Yagam with malafide intention to harass us. We are not involved in the case as alleged and are completely innocent. Therefore we sincerely request the law enforcing agency to make preliminary inquiry about such allegation to justify the veracity of complaint/allegation before any case is registered against any individual so as to ensure that the provision of law is not misused by such persons for their personal interest and to harass the innocent person for no any cogent reason.

When is BSNL’s 3G services coming?

From reliable source, I have heard 3G equipments have already been installed at Ziro in the month of March. But till today 3G services have not been started at Ziro.
Other Districts are already enjoying 3G service. I wonder what the concern authority of Ziro is doing. Are they waiting for public pressure?
Other private mobile service provider are also planning launch 3G at Ziro. If private company comes, then nobody will go for BSNL and thus it will be lost of public money.

This letter is in regards to the press release of the ANYA in various local dailies of the state.
Dear ‘leaders’ of the All Nyishi Youth Association (ANYA), just a gentle reminder that, the ANYA was the first such organization formed amongst the Nyishis. It was formed with a noble thought and aim to create a unified platform for the Nyishis to discuss and voice their opinions for the society. It later on became the present day Nyishi Elite Society (NES) and also paved the way for the All Nyishi Students Union (ANSU).
Dear ‘leaders’, please remember, you are using that ANYA nomenclature. You are also
doing this without any social mandate or social sanctions from the Nyishis. You have
claimed to be the oldest torchbearer of our society, yet you cannot sort out your
internal misunderstandings quietly. You talk about the unity of the Nyishis and yet
you cannot unify yourself. You have ABC-
Dear ‘Leaders’, your suggestions regarding other alternatives are truly commendable. I say go for it and make it materialize. Start a dialogue between the Nyishi Legislator’s and the Government. Organize peaceful dharnas, processions and hunger strikes at New Delhi. Submit Memos to the union ministry. Make the legislators bring the perpetrator to a traditional court of the Nyishis. Yes, please do it and do get some results.

A severe loss to our state government and poor people, but there is still no understanding by ANSU and NES whereas I also being an Arunachalee would support for a peaceful Dharna instead of Bandh Call.
ANSU and NES are for betterment of People not for harassment of all other people. What we get by frequent bandh calls?
Where are the Nyishi intellectuals, the parents? Why they are not showing the way for betterment of people.
People in other state also read our local newspaper and they ask is it true that Arunachal has become a land of bandh call and union because every union is giving the ultimatum of bandh call. What does our state get by these calls? Therefore I request our ANSU and NES not to continue with the 3rd phase. you can go ahead with a peaceful dharna.
